Frank wakes up in the hospital after being in a coma for over a month. He learns that his liver is failing and that he needs a transplant, but he refuses to stop drinking. Meanwhile, Fiona tries to get her life back on track after her brief stint in jail. She lands a new job and starts dating her boss, Sean. However, her newfound stability is threatened when she gets a surprise visit from her ex-boyfriend, Jimmy/Steve.

Debbie struggles with being a teenage mother as she continues to take care of her daughter, Franny. She finds it difficult to balance school and her responsibilities as a parent, but she refuses to give up. Debbie seeks guidance from her sister, Fiona, but she is too distracted with her own problems.
