This drama is based on a short story by Guy de Maupassant. Parisian shop owner Monsieur Dufour decides that his family needs a relaxing day in the country. While they are enjoying lunch at a popular restaurant along the side of the road, two young men named Henri and Rodolphe take a liking to Dufour's daughter, Henriette, and his wife. While they divert Dufour and his future son-in-law Anatole by giving them fishing poles, each man takes one of the women for a boat ride. Henriette and Henri hit if off, but she marries Anatole despite her attraction to Henri.
