A New Wave is a 2006 comedy-crime film directed by Jason Carvey. The movie stars Andrew Keegan as Desmond, Lacey Chabert as Jane and John Krasinski as Simon. The film follows the story of three friends, Desmond, Jane, and Simon, as they plan to rob a bank in order to get rid of their financial troubles. Desmond is an artist who cannot seem to sell any of his paintings, and as a result, he is behind on his rent and owes money to his landlord. Jane, on the other hand, is a computer programmer who is in debt after investing in a tech startup that failed. Simon, the brainy member of the trio, is a graduate student who is unable to pay his tuition fees.

One day, after one of Desmond's art shows, the three friends come up with the idea of robbing a bank. They decide to rob the bank where Jane works, as she has access to the vault and the alarms. Jane is initially hesitant but eventually agrees to help as she needs the money to pay off her debt. Simon, who is the most hesitant member of the group, agrees after much convincing.

The trio begins to plan the heist, but they encounter several hiccups along the way. They realize that they need a fourth member to help with the robbery, and they recruit a local thug, Matty (played by Dean Edwards). They also have to deal with the unpredictable bouncer of the bar they frequent, played by Tom Arnold.

As they prepare for the robbery, they face various obstacles, including being trailed by a suspicious detective (played by William Sadler). The friends struggle to maintain their composure and avoid mistakes that could lead to their failure. The movie is filled with comedy and adventure, with the friends constantly trying to outsmart each other and stay one step ahead of the law.

Andrew Keegan delivers an excellent performance as Desmond, portraying the character's desperation for money and his willingness to take risks. Keegan's portrayal is both funny and endearing, and he manages to win the audience's sympathy throughout the film. Lacey Chabert is equally impressive as Jane, adding a touch of vulnerability to her character's initially strong-willed demeanor. John Krasinski's Simon is the voice of reason for the group, trying to keep things in control while still maintaining a comical edge.

Overall, A New Wave is an entertaining film that blends comedy and crime caper elements. The movie's strong cast and witty dialogue make it a lighthearted experience, and the creative twists and turns in the plot keep the audience engaged throughout. If you're in the mood for a fun, fast-paced comedy with plenty of action, A New Wave is a great choice.
