The film centers around Lieutenant Duke Halliday (John Hodiak), a tough and determined soldier who finds himself assigned to a reconnaissance mission behind enemy lines. Halliday's assignment is to go deep into North Korean territory and gather intelligence on enemy troop movements. He is joined on his mission by a Korean-American interpreter, Jimmie Rhee (James Hong), and a group of Korean partisans who are sympathetic to the cause.

As Halliday and his team move through the rugged terrain, they encounter all sorts of obstacles, from traps and ambushes to treacherous mountain passes and rugged river crossings. The harsh landscape and the constant threat of danger take their toll on the group, but they press on, determined to complete their mission.
