Dhongee is a Bollywood film released in 1979, directed by Ashok Roy and starring Randhir Kapoor, Neetu Singh, and Govardhan Asrani. The film revolves around a young man named Shyam (Randhir Kapoor) who is framed for a robbery he did not commit. He is arrested and sent to jail where he spends several years. As Shyam and Ritu try to gather evidence against Ashok and Girdharilal, they are met with several obstacles. Ashok's daughter, Poonam (Ranjeeta Kaur), falls in love with Shyam and tries to convince him to drop the case. Additionally, Girdharilal constantly tries to sabotage their efforts.
However, Shyam and Ritu persist and eventually manage to obtain the evidence needed to prove Shyam's innocence and expose Ashok and Girdharilal's involvement in the robbery. With their names cleared, Shyam and his family are able to return to a life of respect and dignity.
The film features several popular songs, including "Aaj Mausam Bada Beimaan Hai" and "Kasam Se Kasam Se". Randhir Kapoor and Neetu Singh, who were one of the most popular on-screen couples of the era, deliver strong performances in their respective roles.
