After his mother's divorce, 16 year old Jake Livingston becomes the man of the family. He is a responsible young man that helps his mother and looks out for his siblings. The new family unit is disrupted when mom finds a new boyfriend named Sam. Over time, Sam exposes mom to drugs, alcohol and an unhealthy lifestyle. As the family struggles to accept the intrude, Jake decides he must help mom breakaway from this loser. When confronted, Sam becomes violent and the family is thrown into chaos as Paul and Sam square off in a battle for the soul of the family.
