Set in contemporary Manhattan, Girls Against Boys is a dark and disturbing thriller about two confused Twentysomethings who go on a killing spree seeking revenge against men who have wronged them. The movie stars Nicole LaLiberte as Shae, a free-spirited college student who becomes a part-time bartender, and Danielle Panabaker as Lu, a shy and socially awkward introvert who works as a barista.

When we first meet Shae, she is on the phone with her boyfriend who is breaking up with her. Devastated, she retreats to the bar where she works and drowns her sorrows in alcohol. That's when she meets Lu, who offers to buy her a drink. The two strike up a conversation, and Shae confides in Lu about her troubled relationship. Lu, who is nursing her own emotional scars, sympathizes with Shae and the two become fast friends.

As the night wears on, Shae invites Lu to a party hosted by her friend Simon (played by Matthew Rauch). The party turns out to be a disaster, and Shae, feeling humiliated, decides to leave early. Lu offers to walk her home, and on the way, they encounter a group of men who sexually harass and assault them. Traumatized, the girls report the incident to the police, but are told that there is insufficient evidence to press charges. Feeling powerless and angry, Shae and Lu decide to take justice into their own hands.

What follows is a gruesome and unsettling descent into revenge-fueled violence as the girls begin to target men who have wronged them. At first, their actions seem justified, even cathartic, but as they become more and more extreme, the girls begin to lose their grip on reality. Their friendship, once a source of comfort, becomes strained as they struggle to justify their actions to each other.

As the body count rises, the girls find themselves being pursued by both the police and the men they have targeted. The tension builds to a nail-biting climax as Shae and Lu are forced to confront the consequences of their actions.

Director Austin Chick weaves a complex and challenging narrative, exploring themes of guilt, revenge, and gender politics. The movie is brutal and graphic, but never gratuitous - Chick uses violence sparingly, using it to punctuate the emotional turmoil of his characters.

Nicole LaLiberte and Danielle Panabaker deliver powerful performances as Shae and Lu, respectively. LaLiberte is particularly compelling as the brash and impulsive Shae, whose charisma masks a deep well of pain and insecurity. Panabaker, by contrast, is understated but impactful as the introverted Lu, whose quiet determination masks a simmering rage.

Supporting performances from Matthew Rauch and Liam Aiken (who plays one of the men targeted by Shae and Lu) round out the ensemble, conveying a sense of a world in which everyone is damaged in some way.

Overall, Girls Against Boys is a challenging and uncompromising movie that will leave you questioning your assumptions about revenge, justice, and morality. It's not for the faint of heart, but for those willing to take the ride, it's a gripping and unforgettable experience.

Girls Against Boys is a 2013 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 27 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.8 and a MetaScore of 17.
