Guyana: Crime of the Century is a horror film that was released in theaters in 1979. The film stars Stuart Whitman and Gene Barry and the movie is based on actual events. In 1977 Reverend James Johnson, a pastor of an independent church in San Francisco, moves his followers to Guyana. The purpose is to create their own world and society called Johnsontown. Back in the states there were rumors that Johnsontown were not good as it seems and Lee O' Brien, a California Congressman, went to investigate. When he got to Johnsontown, he sees that the followers were held against their will and the conditions were really bad. Reverend Johnson sent a hit out to kill the congressman and his party, so the story wouldn't be leaked out. After the hit, Reverend Johnson had his followers to destroy themselves.
