Havana Blues revolves around Ruy and Tito, two young musicians, and their music. Set in Cuba, the film also challenges issues in the country, such as electricity outages and poverty. Ruy and Tito, whose music is a combination of traditional and modern music, are approached by a Spanish owned record company. The two have a chance to breakthrough at an international level; the only requirement is that they changed their lyrics. Since the lyrics are Cuba-themed, one musician refuses to betray his country and art while the other realizes the financial necessity.
