This 1964 made for TV version of the famous play was actually done at Elsinore Castle in Denmark. It is a video taped production of the play produced by the BBC and starring Christopher Plummer as Hamlet. The telecast also helped to launch the careers of Donald Sutherland who portrayed Fortinbras and Michael Caine who was Horatio. The production was a big success and earned Plummer an Emmy nomination. His powerful performance as the brooding Dane seeking revenge for the death of his father, impressed television viewers. The realistic setting added depth to the mood and tone of the tragedy.
