Michael Figgis directed this crime thriller that stars Richard Gere as a crooked cop, Dennis Peck, that is facing off with a young and hungry Internal Affairs officer Raymond Avila portrayed by Andy Garcia. Nancy Travis stars as Kathy Avila, Raymond's new wife, who is thrown into the middle of a standoff of epic proportions. William Baldwin, Laurie Metcalf, Anabella Sciorra and Faye Grant also appear in this tale of a good cop gone bad. Internal affairs officer Raymond Avila and his partner Amy Wallace are assigned to investigate misdoings but officer Van Stretch for a series of misdoings in the Los Angeles Police Department. While investigating they come across a rogue officer, Dennis Peck, that at first glance appears to be the perfect cop. Upon further investigation Avila and Wallace soon discover that they are in deeper than they had thought. They find that Peck and his crew of crooked cops are involved in multiple criminal enterprises that threaten the security of their city. Peck and Avia eventually face off in a battle of good versus evil.
