Intimate Strangers takes a look at spousal abuse. The husband, Donald Halston, loses a valuable client at his job which will cause financial stress. He comes home frustrated and after getting mad at his wife's spending, he pushes her. Over time, the abuse becomes worse and the bruises are visible to everyone. Donald's wife, Janice, starts going to battered wives groups even though she denies to everyone that she is being abused. One night after Donald takes his rage out on his children; Janice packs up the children and leaves Donald.
