Joseph is a 1995 movie set in biblical times that narrates the life of Joseph, the son of Jacob. The movie showcases the challenges, trials, and tribulations that Joseph faced throughout his life. The movie opens with the introduction of the character of Jacob, played by Martin Landau, and his sons. Joseph, portrayed by Paul Mercurio, is Jacob's favorite son, which creates jealousy in his other brothers, who plan to sell him as a slave. Joseph ends up serving in the household of Potiphar in Egypt, where he faces new challenges. Potiphar's wife tries to seduce Joseph, and when he refuses, she frames him for attempting to rape her, resulting in Joseph's imprisonment.

During his captivity, Joseph meets Pharaoh's cupbearer and baker, imprisoned for offending Pharaoh. Joseph gains their trust and interprets their dreams, predicting that the cupbearer will return to his post, while the baker will be executed. Joseph asks the cupbearer to remember him to Pharaoh once he is released, but the cupbearer forgets, and Joseph remains imprisoned for a few more years.

Eventually, Pharaoh has two dreams that none of his advisers can interpret. The cupbearer remembers Joseph and tells Pharaoh about him, who brings Joseph to interpret his dreams. Joseph predicts that Egypt will have seven years of abundance followed by seven years of famine. Impressed by his interpretation, Pharaoh makes Joseph the governor of Egypt, putting him in charge of preparing for the future famine.

Throughout the movie, there are several amazing visuals, including Egyptian gods, deities, and architecture that provide a glimpse of ancient Egyptian culture. There are also various musical numbers, adding to the movie's overall presentation.
