Lush is a 2000 American drama film directed by Mark Gibson and written by Gibson and Billy Razzle. The movie stars Campbell Scott, Laura Linney, and Jared Harris. The film is a story of a wealthy man named Jeffrey, who is an alcoholic and lives a life of excess. The movie begins with Jeffrey's wife, Rachel, leaving him because of his drinking problem. He is left alone in his large home with his loyal butler Fatty, who has been with him since childhood. Fatty tries to stop Jeffrey from drinking, but he cannot control him. Jeffrey goes to bars, parties, and indulges in every vice possible.

Despite his wild lifestyle, Jeffrey is intelligent and successful in business. He is a financial advisor and has many clients. However, his addiction causes him to lose his job and his clients. He is also hospitalized for injuries sustained in an accident caused by his drunkenness.

Jeffrey becomes depressed and suicidal. He is visited by Rachel, who is concerned about his safety. She tries to convince him to stop drinking and get help. But Jeffrey believes that he has no problem and that he can quit anytime he wants.

Jeffrey's friend, Marcus, comes to visit him at his home. Marcus is also an alcoholic who has been sober for several years. He talks to Jeffrey about his own experience with addiction and tries to convince him to seek help. Jeffrey refuses to listen and instead drinks more.

The movie then shows Jeffrey's flashbacks to his childhood, where we see that his father was an alcoholic who abused him and his mother. The flashbacks help the audience understand the roots of Jeffrey's addiction and his unwillingness to seek help.

The climax of the movie occurs when Jeffrey is involved in a hit-and-run accident while driving drunk. He is arrested and sent to jail. While in jail, he meets a fellow inmate who also struggles with addiction. The man tells Jeffrey about his own experiences and convinces him to seek help.

The movie ends with Jeffrey leaving jail and checking into a rehab facility. He is finally ready to confront his addiction and start a new life. The movie leaves the audience with a message of hope and the importance of seeking help for addiction.
