Marooned is a 1969 science fiction drama. Gregory Peck, Richard Crenna star in the film. A young Gene Hackman is also featured, The basic plot involves three astronauts stranded in a space station. The timing could not have been better for the movie’s release.It was released only four months after Apollo 11’s successful moon landing. The three astronauts are marooned when they attempt to return to earth from their space station. Their space capsule only has oxygen for two days. The struggle for survival is complicated by domestic political tensions, ethical dilemmas, Cold War dynamics and an impending hurricane. The movie cast a critical eye on NASA and the space program at the height of its popularity.
