Soon after arriving, Julian is made maid-of-honor by Kimberly. She is several years younger than Julian and from a very well-to-do family. The wedding is a massive event, with many pre-wedding parties. Julian soon meets many members of the extended family as she is thrust into the event. She winds up liking Kimberly, but still wants to steal her man away. She calls her agent for help, and he flies in for moral support. Michael, seeing them together, asks who that is. Instead of being honest, she tells him that he has flown in to see her, since they are engaged. Her agent is homosexual and is not pleased with Julian's lie. He tries to embarrass her as much as possible. Michael becomes jealous, even though he is actually engaged.
Julian tries many different ways to split up Michael and Kimberly. Even though plan after plan fails, she is still determined. They spend one last day together before the wedding, but she doesn't tell him her real feelings then. Later that evening, one of her plans seems to have worked, because Michael calls off the wedding. However, the next day, things are still in full swing as far as wedding preparations go. Julian tells him her real feelings. Michael then has to decide if he wants to still marry Kimberly, or leave her for Julian.
This may not sit well with the worldwide gay community. Rupert Everett may not care whether or not he's considered a part of that community, but many in it probably won't like that he recently said that he "can't think of anything worse than being brought up by two gay dads."
