Raju Pardesi (Govinda) always dreams of a good life and he decides to relocate to Mumbai to achieve his aspiration. Happy Singh, Raju's friend in Mumbai makes the arrangement of Raju's accommodation with a strict Landlady, Mai. Raju Pardesi is kind hearted and acts like a Samaritan man. He loves helping people and sometimes even risks his life to help the needy. He participates in wrestling matches and sometimes accepts defeat with a smile just to win the lump sum amount of money which he can distribute amongst the poor.

One day Raju Pardesi returns from his day job and is shocked to find a lady decked in bridal attire in his room. He later on finds out that the lady, Chinni Chopra (Shilpa Shetty) has eloped from her wedding ceremony because she was against her father's choice of her groom. Raju is clueless in this utter complicated situation and he's worried about his strict landlady who he believes will soon find out about Chinni.

In the meantime Raju and Chinni fall in love with each other but their wedding is strongly opposed by Chinni's dad. He asks Raju to collect 1 crore rupees within one year in order to marry his daughter. Raju agrees to the offer and begins his new venture.

The tenure of one year is about to get over when Chinni receives the much awaited letter from Raju. She is very happy to know that Raju is returning to Mumbai with the money. But, her happiness is all washed away when Raju never returns. Chinni boards the train to Darjeeling to find out the whereabouts of Raju. In Darjeeling Chinni is shocked to find out that Raju is getting married to Karuna. To her utter disbelief her father also discovers that Raju did not accumulate the stated amount of money, instead he stole 5 crore rupees from him by employing Chinni.
