RocknRolla is about several criminals in London who are trying to get rich as a result of a shady and illegal real estate deal. Lenny Cole is a crime boss in London. He is the top dog when it comes to London’s criminal underworld. Lenny Cole teams up a wealthy Russian property dealer, named Uri Omovich, after Uri comes to him for help with a new real estate deal. Lenny Cole requires a hefty fee for his services and Uri, as a sign of good faith, allows Lenny Cole to borrow his lucky painting. Uri’s money gets stolen in transit to Lenny Cole by a group of criminals called the Wild Bunch. The Wild Bunch, led by a man named One Two, is working with Uri’s corrupt accountant Stella. Lenny Cole receives Uri’s lucky painting but it gets stolen. The person suspected of stealing the painting is Lenny’s estranged stepson, Johnny Quid, who is supposed to be dead. What ensues after both the money and the painting are stolen can only be described as mayhem. Lenny desperately tries to locate the lucky painting by finding his son, Uri hires a group of henchmen to locate and return his money, and the Wild Bunch try to hold onto the money and complete the deal they have made with Uri’s corrupt accountant. Bullets fly as the money and the painting switch hands several times. RocknRolla has a very fast paced and complex plot. The fast paced complex plot intertwined with the humorous and memorable characters makes for a very enjoyable movie. The absurdity of how the different parts of the plot come together and the characters in RocknRolla add a kind of dark humor to an otherwise serious film. The constant stream of adult themes in the movie including sex, violence, crime, drinking and drug use, mean that this movie is for adults only.
