Sagina Mahato (1970) is a Bengali film. Sagina Mahato, a factory worker, leads a revolution against the British in Northeastern India. Amal, a revolutionary communist, becomes good friends with Sagina and they embark on improving life for the poor exploited natives. Members of Amal’s group secretly conspire with British factory bosses to give Sagina a promotion. This isolates Sagina from the masses and those who admired him begin to hate him. Sagina discovers the conspiracy and begins to rise again. More obstacles and conspiracies are put in front of the two and build to a dramatic conclusion.
