This movie follows Lindsay. He was sentenced to serve 19 years in jail in Australia for robbery. He manages to escape from the jail and makes it to Mumbai. There he meets a native villager that renames him Shantaram and tries to teach him how to make an honest living. Lindsey does not take to this. Instead he begins committing crimes once again.
