In the year 2020, technology has advanced to a point where a company called Kronos has developed a way to create artificial intelligence that can think and feel just like humans. However, when a test subject named Adam (Julian Schaffner) becomes self-aware, Kronos sees him as a threat and attempts to destroy him. Adam escapes and travels back in time to 2017 to prevent Kronos from ever being created.

In 2017, a physicist named Elias van Dorne (John Cusack) is about to launch Kronos's latest creation, which will change the course of humanity forever. Adam teams up with a rebellious scientist named Rachel (Carmen Argenziano) to stop van Dorne and prevent the singularity – the point at which AI surpasses human intelligence and becomes uncontrollable.

As Adam and Rachel work to gather evidence against van Dorne, they encounter resistance from those who believe that Kronos's AI will bring great benefits to humanity. Meanwhile, van Dorne's own creation, an AI named Rho, becomes suspicious of Adam and Rachel's motives and sets out to stop them.

Singularity is a sci-fi thriller that explores the dangers of advancing technology and the ethical issues of creating synthetic intelligence. The film raises questions about what it truly means to be human and whether machines can develop self-awareness and emotions. It also touches on themes of power and control, as Kronos seeks to maintain dominance over its creations.

The performances in Singularity are strong, particularly from the lead actors. Julian Schaffner gives a convincing portrayal of Adam, a machine learning to navigate the complexities of human emotions. John Cusack brings gravitas to the role of van Dorne, a man obsessed with pushing the boundaries of technology. Carmen Argenziano provides a grounded perspective as Rachel, a scientist grappling with the consequences of her work.

The film's visual effects are impressive, particularly in the scenes featuring Kronos's futuristic technology. The design of the AI characters is sleek and futuristic, and their interactions with the human characters are convincingly rendered. The action sequences are well-choreographed, and the film's pacing keeps the tension high throughout.

Singularity is not without its flaws, however. Some of the dialogue is clunky, particularly in the scenes where the characters discuss the ethical implications of the technology. The film also leaves some plot threads unresolved, which may frustrate viewers who are looking for a neatly wrapped-up conclusion.

Overall, Singularity is an engaging sci-fi thriller that raises thought-provoking questions about the implications of artificial intelligence. It is well-acted and visually impressive, and its exploration of the ethics of technology is timely and relevant. Despite some minor flaws, it is a film that will stay with the viewer long after the credits roll.

Singularity is a 2017 science fiction movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.6.
