Johnny Baxter flees his job in New York after learning that his uncle has died, leaving him with a hotel and a letter that claims the place brings in a large monthly income. Upon arriving in Colorado, however, the Baxter family discovers that the hotel is a ramshackle wreck. Deciding to turn it in a ski resort, Johnny seeks a loan to make repairs, which puts him right in the crosshairs of local banker Martin Ridgeway, who wants the hotel for himself.
