Watch State of Play
State of Play is a 2009 political thriller film that is also based on a television series that aired in Britain and was of the same name, which was originally created by Paul Abbott. It was directed by Kevin Macdonald. State of Play involves the character of Sonia Baker, played by Maria Thayer, being killed in Washington, D.C. in what originally starts out as a suicide. Baker also happened to be a researcher on the staff of a politician named Stephen Collins, played by Ben Affleck. At this point in the story Collins decides to call on an old friend named Cal McAffrey, played by Russell Crowe, who's a reporter, and then gets dragged in to the investigation surrounding Sonia's death. Also involved in the investigation is the character of Della Frye, played by Rachel McAdams, who is also a reporter and happens to be working with Cal in the department and together they all attempt to piece together the evidence to find out what exactly happened in regards to Sonia's death. Though State of Play was directed by Macdonald, it was produced by Andrew Hauptman, Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner.
