Step Up 3 is the third installment of the Step Up movie series. In this particular movie it followed a reoccurring character from the two movies prior, named Moose and his journey to a New York college with his childhood friend Camille. It starts off with a student/parent campus tour in the park which then leads to Moose wandering off to watch a group of dancers battling it out, and bets being made on who would win each battle. Push comes to shove and Moose ends up in the middle of the action battling it out (unknowingly) with a member of a well-known dance crew member from the House of Samurai. After showing up the talented dancer in public, it starts an inevitable battle of turf when a rival member, Luke from The Pirates shows his interest in Moose’s’ dancing skills. A disturbance of the peace gets the cops called on the group of dancers which forces Luke to get Moose to follow him out of the mess. The two click almost immediately and after a tour of his home/club. On this journey, Luke finds Natalie, an elusive dancer he always sees in their club but has never actually spoken to. On the night that Luke met Moose, the Samurai infiltrate Luke’s club and prompt a battle with Moose thus causing a scene in the club. During the mess, Luke finally corners Natalie and offers her a place to stay in his flat. After the rest of Luke’s friend and crew members spend more time with Moose and Natalie, Luke pops the question and asks the pair to join the Pirates. What happens next follows a string of trials of loyalty, love, betrayal, and of course the love of dance. Two story lines are featured as well. One, Moose’s journey in growing up and finding love will reignite his love of dance. And the second, Luke’s conflict in keeping his family, home and crew a float all while trying to find love. Or more importantly trying to keep the love he finds. In the end the only thing that matters is family, and that is the number one theme behind the entire film.
