When a Vietnam veteran goes to visit the father of a friend killed during the war, he is hoping to find a place where he can enjoy some peace and quiet. While there, he rents a lakeside cabin and tries to find the peace he's looking for. That peace is soon interrupted by 3 orphaned bear cubs. The movie follows the vet's relationship with the bears and the conflict it creates with the local Indian tribe. Adding to the conflict is a move by the government to relocate the Indians in order to use their land as a National Park.
