Watch The Deer Hunter

The Deer Hunter is a drama film that came out in the year 1978. It is about a group of three friends who work as steel workers. They are then deployed to Vietnam to serve in the war. The experience changes the lives of all three as they are no longer the same people they were before serving. One guy gets crippled, another one becomes psychologically traumatized and the third guy stays in Vietnam to become a gambler. This movie was the best picture for the year and is among the greatest movies of all time according to many critics. During the 1960's a group of three friends named Mike, Nick and Steve work at a steel mill. They live their lives happily and participate in deer hunting as one of their favorite activities. One of the friends named Steve gets married and looks to live a nice lifestyle. However the lives of the three friends changes as they are sent to Vietnam to serve. While in Vietnam they get captured by Vietnamese enemies and are taken to a POW camp. At the camp they play Russian roulette in order to entertain the captors. Fortunately for the three friends they escape but are very traumatized by this event. During the escape they get onto a helicopter but Steve falls down into a river. Mike goes in to save him and gets both of them to land. However Steve suffers from leg injuries and becomes crippled as a result. After this ordeal Mike goes home and becomes very troubled by his experience. He has difficulty adjusting to his life back in the United States. Meanwhile Nick stays in Vietnam and is introduced to gambling through playing Russian roulette by a Frenchman. He becomes very successful at this game and wins lots of money. After a while Mike learns from Steve that the friend his still in Vietnam and is winning lots of money there as a gambler. He goes back to Vietnam to reunite with him and tries to reason with him to come back home. In the end Nick kills himself and his funeral is held back in the United States. The remaining friends and family gather at a restaurant to eat a meal and mourn his death.
