"Ronin" is a film that was released in 1998 starring Robert DeNiro ("Taxi Driver") and Jean Reno ("The Professional"). The movie was written by David Mamet and was filmed in France. "Ronin" is an American movie that would best be categorized as a James Bond-style blend of espionage, intrigue and action. The story involves a woman hiring five mercenaries to attack an armored vehicle to steal a suitcase. Each mercenary has origins from a different military outfit and all of them no longer have allegiance to any nation or cause, much like the historical masterless samurai that were known as "Ronin". The contents of the suitcase are unknown to the mercenaries but said to be of very high value. They are told that the Russian mob is trying to get their hands on the suitcase and that the team must act fast to prevent that from happening. The team has to avoid police while preparing for the heist and are almost immediately beset upon by mysterious agencies. They must survive ambushes and car chases to try and obtain the mysterious suitcase.
