Patriot Games is a tense, action-packed political thriller from 1992, directed by Phillip Noyce and starring Harrison Ford, Sean Bean and Anne Archer. The movie is based on the novel of the same name by Tom Clancy and was a huge success upon its release, drawing both critical acclaim and box office success. The film follows retired CIA analyst, Jack Ryan (played by Harrison Ford), as he becomes embroiled in a dangerous game of espionage, betrayal and revenge.

The movie opens with Jack Ryan on holiday in England with his wife Catherine (Anne Archer) and young daughter Sally. While driving through the countryside, Ryan witnesses a terrorist attack by a group of Irish Republican Army (IRA) members on a British convoy. In a heroic effort, Ryan takes action to stop the attack, but in doing so he kills one of the terrorists, resulting in his family becoming potential targets of the IRA's retaliation.

Following the attack, Ryan returns to the United States and resumes his quiet civilian life. However, in a dramatic turn of events, Ryan is soon called upon by his former CIA boss William Cabot (James Earl Jones) to help investigate a deadly attack on a British Royal Family member in London. In the aftermath of the attack, Ryan ends up drawing the attention of Sean Miller (Sean Bean), a former IRA member who was imprisoned by the British but has now escaped and is seeking revenge on Ryan for inadvertently killing his brother.

As Ryan becomes more and more involved in the investigation, he finds himself at the centre of a deadly game of cat and mouse as the IRA increases its efforts to kill Ryan and his family. The tension in the movie is palpable, with both Ryan and Miller playing a dangerous game of chess, each trying to outsmart the other as they move towards a final, explosive confrontation.

Harrison Ford is superb in his role as Jack Ryan. He brings a quiet, calm intensity to the character, making him believable as a former CIA analyst who gets caught up in an increasingly dangerous situation. Anne Archer is also excellent as Ryan's wife, providing a touch of humanity to the story amid all the high-stakes action.

Sean Bean is particularly noteworthy as Sean Miller, the antagonist of the story. Bean is menacing and intimidating as the vengeful IRA member, bringing a sense of danger and urgency to the movie. His scenes with Ford are particularly tense, with both actors playing off each other perfectly.

Overall, Patriot Games is a thrilling, well-crafted political thriller that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats from start to finish. The story is engaging, the action is intense, and the performances are all top-notch. If you're a fan of action-packed political thrillers, then Patriot Games is definitely a movie you won't want to miss.
