The Earthling

The film entitled The Earthling is centered on the life and challenges of Patrick. Patrick Foley is suffering from terminal cancer, and since he knows he will soon die, he decides to go back to the hinterlands where he was born. He stops taking his medications and accepts the fact that he will die alone in the forest peacefully. He prepares his stuff and takes off on his journey towards the hinterlands. He comes across a family camp site.

He stands on a hill top and spots a little boy who is about ten years old as he gathers firewood. The boy’s father tries to move the camper way from the edge of a cliff, but the camper falls off the side of the cliff all the way to the bottom with Shawn’s parents in it. Shawn struggles and makes his way down the cliff and finds out that his parents are dead. Foley then decides to take Shawn with him. He decides to give up on his own wish to give the boy a new and worthwhile life.

Foley and the boy then leave for their journey towards the wilderness, and he teaches the young boy how to survive in such an area. The two become very close to each other, and a powerful bond develops between them. However, not long after, Foley dies and Shawn is devastated as he has to survive on his own, but he is positive as he learned a lot of skills from Foley.

The film was written by Lanny Cotler and directed by Peter Collinson. It was produced by the joint collaboration of Elliot Schick and John Strong. The characters in the film include well-known actors and actresses such as William Holden and Rick Schroder. Music for the film was provided by Bruce Smeaton. The complete film was distributed by Filmways pictures.
