Watch The Fall

The Fall is a film by director/producer Tarsem Singh and begins with stuntman Roy Walker hospitalized after a failed jump in his first film. While convalescing, a young girl named Alexandria catches his interest. Roy promises to tell the broken-armed-girl a story if she will revisit him. When she does, the film jumps from grayscale to a vivid full-color tone to represent Alexandria's imagination. Roy tells of five heroes: the Indian, an ex-slave, Luigi the demo man, Charles Darwin, and a masked bandit. The heroes all seek revenge against a Governor Odious, later gaining a sixth ally in a mystic. Although Roy is a great storyteller, his real reason is to gain leverage and have Alexandria sneak away morphine for suicide. However, Alexandria only returns with three pills after misreading Roy's note. Roy's story continues, even being augmented by Alexandria, who inserts herself into the story, with Roy as both the masked bandit and her father. Alexandria attempts another morphine run. However, they're only sugar pills. Desperate to fix things, Alexandria makes yet another attempt but injures herself. Roy, wheelchair-bound, visits her and explains his motives. He also urges her to ask another person to end the story, but she insists that Roy tell it. Roy spins the tale into a tragedy, which upsets Alexandria; to which Roy simply claims that it's his story. Alexandria counters that it's also hers and resets the finale so that the heroes win. Roy, Alexandria, and everyone else at the hospital, enjoy a viewing of Roy's film. Only Roy's smile breaks after realizing the jump that may have killed his career was edited out for another stuntman's performance. Alexandria's arm mends itself and she returns to her family orchard. A voice-over mentions how Roy recovered and still works, with a montage of stunts from various well-known silent films, all performed by Roy.
