The Forger is a movie centering on the encounters of a young teenage boy named Joshua. Joshua was staying at a motel with is mother when she decided to abandoned him there. At fifteen, Joshua tries to manage on his own by stealing what he needs. One day he decides to break into a wealthy home where he helps himself to food. While walking through the house he stumbles upon an elevator which takes him to a secret underground room where paintings are in the process of being completed. Having both a passion and talent for art, Joshua picks up a paintbrush and begins filling in the areas of a painting which have not been completed. While Joshua is inside the house, the owners come home and discover him. It turns out the owners of the home are painters themselves. What they do is make authentic looking copies of some of the most valuable paintings in the world. They then contact buyers who are looking to purchase the original pieces and pass off their copies as the originals, scamming the buyers out of millions of dollars. When the forgers see the high quality of Joshua's work they decide to enlist his services. The decision to be responsible for Joshua's well being on the part of the forgers needs to be approved by social services. The social service agent allows Joshua to remain with the wealthy homeowners because she is not aware of what they do for a living. While working for the forgers, Joshua also meets a wealthy older woman who takes a shine to him. She knows what his benefactors do for a living and tries to encourage Joshua to pursue his own talent in art. The forgers Joshua is working for have a big deal riding on his ability to finish a piece they are going to sell for millions. In the end, Joshua has to choose between finishing the forgery or telling people the truth.
