This animation adventure stars Macaulay Culkin as Richard Tyler, the boy who is afraid of everything. Tyler, who can quote statistics about any type of accident or injury-related topic, rides his bicycle to the store and has to take refuge in the library to avoid a heavy thunderstorm. There Tyler hits his head and is knocked unconscious, and the real story begins. Tyler awakens as an animation and has to fight his way to the library exit with the help of several animated books: Fantasy, Horror and Adventure. During the course of the trip to the exit sign, Tyler faces numerous foes and many challenges. These foes and challenges take inspiration from classic books, including Moby Dick and Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. With each new challenge Tyler realizes his talents and capabilities, while his fellow travelers, who were in competition from the beginning, find appreciation for each other as well. Tyler finds confidence and courage during his adventure in the library. Once he awakens, he takes his book friends and heads home. At home, he shows his parents that he has found a new sense of courage and helps his father finish his treehouse, where he happily spends the night with his book friends. There are several easily recognizable faces and voices in this adventure. The first is Christopher Lloyd, who doubles as both the librarian before Tyler is knocked unconscious and as the Pagemaster within the animated portion of the tale. Patrick Stewart is involved as the voice of Adventure, Whoopi Goldberg as the voice of Fantasy and Frank Welker is the voice of Horror. Leonard Nimoy is also part of the adventure as the voice of Dr.Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.
