Ayn Rand was a controversial philosopher and social theorist in the 20th century. She is often regarded as the philosopher of capitalism. The Passion of Ayn Rand is a 1999 movie based on the book of the same name. Christoper Menaul directed the movie. Helen Mirren stars as Ayn Rand. The movie focuses on Rand’s affair with one of her acolytes, a young man named Nathaniel Branden (Eric Stoltz). Branden was 25 years younger than Rand, and married. Besides becoming her lover Brandon helps to build the Ayn Rand Institute. He is important to her professional as well as personal life. The couple end up having a major falling out.
