After a car accident in 1969, Harry Benson is diagnosed with having a form of psycho-motor epilepsy. A computer scientist, working in the field of artificial intelligence research, he begins having episodes of seizures and blackouts. During these episodes, Benson commits acts of brutal violence against others. After an attack on a man working at a gas station, during one of his episodes, Benson is arrested. Now aware of what he has done, Benson is offered the opportunity to have a controversial brain implant that could help him control his seizures and behavior. There is, however, some doubt that the surgery will benefit Benson or his behavior.
