The Uncanny is a 1977 horror anthology film starring Peter Cushing, Ray Milland, and Joan Greenwood. The premise of the movie revolves around cats and their ability to get revenge on humans. The film opens with a writer named Wilbur Gray (played by Peter Cushing) visiting his publisher, Frank Richards (played by Ray Milland), with a manuscript detailing three stories about cats. Gray is convinced that cats are intelligent and that they have a great capacity for revenge, which he bases on supposed historical accounts of savage attacks and retributions committed by cats.

The first story takes place in London, where a young woman named Lucy (played by Susan Penhaligon) inherits her late aunt’s estate and her beloved cats. The cats are the only thing that keep Lucy company as she is somewhat of a recluse, but she soon becomes aware that her late aunt may have been hiding a sinister past that involved her feline companions.

The second story, set in Quebec, follows a young girl named Janet (played by Chloe Franks) and her young cat, who is rumored to be a witch's familiar. When Janet's stepmother (played by Joan Greenwood) has the cat killed, strange things begin to happen, and the girl is convinced that her pet has come back from the dead to seek revenge.

The final story is set in Hollywood, where a struggling actress with no money adopts a black cat who seems to bring her good luck. However, when the actress's greedy landlady tries to kill the cat, she discovers that the feline has a dark secret that will make the landlady pay a horrific price.

Throughout the film, Gray tries to convince Richards that his theory about cats is true, but Richards is skeptical until the very end, when he is faced with a furry and venegful foe.

The Uncanny is a classic B-movie, with cheesy special effects, over-the-top performances, and a plot that would make even the most ardent cat lovers think twice before picking up a kitten. Nonetheless, the film has become a cult classic and is worth watching for any fans of old-school horror movies or fans of Peter Cushing and Ray Milland.

The Uncanny is a 1978 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 29 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.7.
