Released in 1987, The Untouchables, directed by Brian DePalma, is a period crime drama that follows the story of Elliot Ness, a treasury officer who assembled a team to try and bring down the notorious gangster Al Capone in a prohibition-era Chicago. Kevin Costner stars as Ness, and Robert DeNiro plays Capone. Ness must fight to get his team together, in the face of a corrupt Chicago police force who is routinely bribed by Capone's criminal organization. His team is made up of various police officers with different skills. Aside from Costner and DeNiro, members of the untouchables - who were named as such because they could not be bribed to turn a blind eye to crime - include Andy Garcia and Sean Connery, who plays a Chicago beat cop. The film is set in 1920s Chicago and features a film score by Enio Morricone and a screenplay by David Mamet.
