Zipper is a 2015 thriller-drama movie directed by Mora Stephens, starring Patrick Wilson, Lena Headey, and Ray Winstone. The movie follows the life of Sam Ellis, a successful federal prosecutor and a passionate family man who dreams of becoming the next Governor of his state. Sam Ellis (Patrick Wilson) is a high-profile public servant who is admired by his colleagues and constituents alike. He is well-educated, ambitious, and loves his wife, Jeannie (Lena Headey), and son, Jack (Christopher McDonald). However, despite his achievements, Sam cannot resist the temptation of having affairs with other women. He feels invincible because of his position and believes that his indiscretions would never be discovered.

The movie starts with Sam closing a case involving the arrest and conviction of a sex offender. He is given a standing ovation by the audience as he exits the courtroom. However, as soon as he gets to his car, he receives a call from a mysterious woman who wants to meet him in a hotel room. Despite having a momentary conflict of conscience, Sam decides to go ahead with the meeting, setting the tone for the movie.

Zipper explores the theme of addiction and the lengths that people go to in order to satisfy their desires. The movie shows how Sam's affair addiction starts to devour his personal and professional life. His trysts with other women begin to affect his relationships at home, and his obsession with sex causes him to take dangerous risks, including trying to sleep with an underage escort.

As Sam's political career begins to take off, his adulterous affairs become a time bomb that could potentially ruin him. He becomes entangled with a high-end escort service, and his attempts at covering his tracks begin to unravel. His life starts to spiral out of control, and he begins to question whether he is fit for public service or whether his addiction will ultimately destroy everything he has built.

The central character of Zipper, Sam Ellis, is excellently portrayed by Patrick Wilson, who plays the role with nuance and depth. His character is not autonomous from the society he serves, and this makes his predicament all the more compelling. Lena Headey also gives an excellent performance as Jeannie, Sam's wife. Her character is strong and resilient and portrays the emotional burden that comes with being married to a public figure who's always in the public eye.

Zipper's Director, Mora Stephens, is able to keep the tension high throughout the movie. She creates a sense of unease that carries over from one scene to the next, and her ability to capture the emotional anguish of Sam and Jeannie is exceptional.

The cinematography of the movie is also worth commending, as it captures the political world with its gleam and grandeur, juxtaposed with the seedy underbelly of prostitution and sex addiction, reminiscent of the darker side of human nature.

Overall, Zipper is a well-acted and compelling movie that offers a glimpse into the psychological complexities of addiction, ambition, and power. It's a movie that would keep viewers hooked from beginning to end, and offers lessons about the consequences of our actions, especially when we allow our desires and ego to consume us.

Zipper is a 2015 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 46 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8 and a MetaScore of 39.
