The show Barnwood Builders follows a team of skilled craftspeople as they travel throughout the United States to save and restore historic barns, cabins, and other buildings. In season 13 episode 6, titled "Camp Barnwood," the team heads to Camp Woodlands, a Boy Scout camp in West Virginia that has fallen into disrepair.

Upon arrival, the team meets with the camp director, who explains that the main lodge, which dates back to the 1930s, is in desperate need of repair. The building's roof is leaking, the walls are bowing, and sections of the floor have rotted away. The team agrees to take on the project and set to work dismantling the lodge, carefully salvaging as much of the original wood as possible.

As they work, the team discovers that the lodge was originally constructed using a unique method known as "balloon framing." This technique involves constructing the entire structure with long, continuous studs that run from the foundation all the way up to the roof. The team marvels at the ingenuity of the builders who constructed the lodge using this method, which has largely fallen out of favor in modern construction.

With the building dismantled, the team begins the process of sorting through the salvaged wood, selecting pieces that can be used to repair and reconstruct the lodge. They use traditional joinery techniques, including mortise and tenon joints, to put the building back together.

As the project progresses, tensions rise among the team members. Mark, the team leader, becomes frustrated with one of the young apprentices, who he feels is not working up to his potential. But as they continue to work together, the team learns to appreciate each other's strengths and talents, and they ultimately come together to complete the project.

The team also takes some time to explore the surrounding area, including the nearby New River Gorge Bridge, one of the largest single-span arch bridges in the world. They marvel at the stunning natural beauty of the area and discuss the importance of preserving historic buildings like the Camp Woodlands lodge.

In the end, the team completes the project on schedule and the newly restored lodge is a sight to behold. The Boy Scouts who use the camp are delighted with the outcome, and the team members take pride in knowing that they have helped to preserve a piece of history for future generations to enjoy.
