The episode Wild Rock Pavilion is the twelfth installment of the third season of the popular reality TV show Barnwood Builders. It follows the team of expert builders as they take on another challenging project, designing and constructing a beautiful outdoor pavilion for a family residing in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains.
The show opens with the team heading out to the site near Lewisburg, West Virginia on a warm summer morning. The family has inherited a large piece of land from their ancestors who have lived there for generations. They are avid outdoor enthusiasts, and the idea of having a place to entertain guests and host barbeques and parties has long been a dream of theirs. The family's vision is to have a covered structure that seamlessly blends in with the natural surroundings, and that can accommodate up to 50 guests.
The Barnwood Builders team, led by Mark Bowe, Cody Breland, Johnny Jett and the rest of the crew, quickly get to work assessing the site and drawing up the plans for the pavilion. They decide to use traditional techniques and materials such as hand-hewn logs, reclaimed wood, and natural stones that are commonly found in the region. To help manage the workload, Mark invites a new member to the team, Tim Rose, a talented carpenter who has worked with him on many previous projects.
Over the next few days, the team sets out to source the material for the project, which includes over 20 massive hand-hewn logs and dozens of reclaimed boards that were salvaged from old barns in the region. The crew also spends several days clearing the site and preparing it for the construction process.
Once everything is ready, the team sets to work erecting the main support structure for the pavilion using several of the massive hand-hewn logs. The work is physically demanding and requires a great deal of precision as the team needs to make sure each log is perfectly placed and secured in place. As they work, they share stories of the history surrounding the area and discuss the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of the region through their work.
One of the most interesting challenges posed by this project is the fact that the site is situated on a steep incline, which makes it difficult to create a level platform for the pavilion. The team devises a clever solution to build the deck at two different levels, thus accommodating the slope and providing two different zones for guests to congregate. They also use locally sourced natural stones to create a lovely pathway leading up to the pavilion, further enhancing the natural aesthetics of the site.
As the project comes together, the team remains focused on ensuring that the finished pavilion meets the high expectations of the family. They add several finishing touches, including beautiful hand-crafted shutters, lighting fixtures, and even a chandelier that is suspended from the pavilion's intricate wooden trusses. The family is thrilled with the final outcome and can't wait to invite their friends and loved ones to their new Wild Rock Pavilion.
The episode Wild Rock Pavilion is a joy to watch as it beautifully showcases the craftsmanship and dedication of the Barnwood Builders team. The stunning panoramic views of the surrounding natural landscape combined with the rustic charm of the pavilion make for a truly remarkable viewing experience, one that will leave audiences feeling inspired and amazed.
