Black Jesus is a comedy series that premiered its first season in 2014. The show follows the life of Jesus Christ, portrayed by Gerald "Slink" Johnson, where he lives in Compton, California with his group of friends and deals with common day-to-day problems of the community while trying to spread his message of love, compassion and respect to his followers.

The first episode of Black Jesus season 1, titled "Smokin', Drinkin', and Chillin' (Pilot)," introduces Jesus as he arrives in Compton, California, ready to begin his work with a group of friends, including Frylock, played by Corey Holcomb, and Trayvon, played by Andrew Bachelor. While passing through a neighborhood park, Jesus meets a group of young men who are drinking, smoking and hanging out on a bench. Jesus casually approaches them, greets them with kindness and sits down to make conversation.

As the group talks, one of the young men asks Jesus where he's from, and he responds that he's from the east side of town. The young men look at Jesus with confusion, specifically because he is the only black man in the group that they have ever seen with a flowing hair, white robe and sandals. The group can't believe that he is from the east side, because no one who looks like him could survive the violence that's associated with that area. But Jesus remains calm and tells them that love will always conquer all.

The episode takes a deeper dive into the life of Jesus. He is shown to be extremely charismatic, wise and unflappable in the face of adversity. He takes on the role of counselor to his friends and others in the community who are searching for guidance in their lives. For instance, he takes Frylock under his wing, advising him on how to get a job so that he can support his family. And, he shows Trayvon some tough love to help him see who he really is inside.

As the episode goes on, Jesus' character gradually becomes more fleshed out. He is seen to be a man of principle, standing up against anyone who seeks to cause harm or perpetuate hate in his community. When a group of gangsters threaten him and his friends in a convenience store, Jesus calmly tells them that he's willing to forgive and even be friends with them, but warns them that they need to change their ways if they want to live a good life.

In the end, the episode portrays Jesus as a kind-hearted, loving, and charismatic figure who is determined to help those who are in need. He's not only a spiritual leader, but also a relatable and empathetic friend to his entire community. The humor in the show is on-point, with plenty of light-hearted moments sprinkled throughout the episode, making it a great piece of entertainment for people of any age to enjoy.

Overall, Black Jesus season 1 episode 1 is an excellent introduction to this hilarious and heartwarming series. Slink's portrayal of a modern-day Jesus is both fun and captivating, and the show does an excellent job of capturing the essence of life in tough neighborhoods like Compton, California. Fans of good comedy and genuine characters who care about their community will surely find plenty to enjoy in this spectacular first episode.
