Ep 1. The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One

Jefferson Pierce aka Black Lightning returns for the fourth season of the electrifying series. The first episode of season four is titled "The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One."

The episode opens with the city of Freeland still recovering after the events of the previous season. The ASA has left the city, but its impact is still being felt as people struggle to pick up the pieces. Jefferson Pierce is working as the principal of Garfield High School once again, but he is facing several challenges. First, he has to deal with the aftermath of the Markovian invasion, which left the city devastated. Secondly, he has to face the fact that his daughters, Anissa and Jennifer, have started walking their own paths as superheroes.

Jefferson is trying to keep things under control, but he can't seem to catch a break. He is constantly being pulled in different directions, and there is always someone who needs his help. On top of that, he is still dealing with the emotional trauma of losing his friend and mentor, Peter Gambi, who sacrificed himself to save Freeland from the Markovian war.

As the episode progresses, we see that Jefferson is struggling to establish a new normal for himself and his family. Anissa, aka Thunder, is acting as a vigilante with the help of her girlfriend Grace Choi. Jennifer, who has taken on the mantle of Lightning, is out of control, using her powers recklessly and putting herself in dangerous situations. Jefferson is worried about both his daughters, but he knows that he can't control them. He wants to protect them, but he also wants them to be able to make their own choices.

Meanwhile, we are introduced to a new villain, Tobias Whale's sister, Tori Whale. Tori has just returned to Freeland after spending several years in prison, and she is determined to take over Tobias' criminal empire. Tori is a formidable adversary, and she has a score to settle with Jefferson. We learn that years ago, Jefferson was responsible for getting her arrested, and she has never forgiven him for it. Tori is smart, ruthless, and has a personal vendetta against Black Lightning.

The episode ends with Jefferson facing off against Tori in an electrifying showdown. Tori has brought in a team of mercenaries to help her take down Black Lightning, but Jefferson is determined to protect his city and his family. The fight is intense and evenly matched, but just as Tori is about to land a fatal blow, something unexpected happens.

"The Book of Reconstruction: Chapter One" sets the stage for what promises to be an exciting season of Black Lightning. The episode does an excellent job of establishing the new status quo, introducing new characters, and setting up the season's main conflict. Despite the upheavals that have shaken Freeland to its core, Jefferson Pierce remains a beacon of hope, still determined to do the right thing and protect his city.
