In the fourth episode of Building Alaska season 1, titled "Getting Squirrelly," the stakes are raised as the three crews continue to work on their respective cabins deep in the remote Alaskan wilderness.
The episode opens with Dave and Hans struggling to transport a large tree trunk up a rocky hillside using only a winch and some rope. Meanwhile, Mark and his team are dealing with the harsh Alaskan weather, which has left them with a frozen water supply and a serious case of cabin fever. And as if that wasn't enough, Chappie and his crew are facing their own set of challenges as they attempt to build a foundation for their cabin on a steep and rocky slope.
Despite the obstacles, each team is making progress on their cabins. Dave and Hans manage to successfully transport the tree trunk to their build site, where they begin the process of turning it into a support beam for their cabin. Mark's team is finally able to thaw their frozen water supply, and Chappie's crew manages to lay the foundation for their cabin using massive concrete piers.
However, as the days wear on, tensions begin to rise. Mark and his team are becoming increasingly frustrated with the fact that they have yet to receive their building materials, which were supposed to arrive weeks ago. Meanwhile, Chappie's crew is struggling to find a way to transport their lumber and tools up the steep slope to their build site.
As the episode draws to a close, the three crews are once again reminded of the unforgiving nature of the Alaskan wilderness. Dave and Hans are forced to abandon their tree trunk after it becomes stuck in a rock crevice, Mark and his team are still waiting for their building materials to arrive, and Chappie and his crew are forced to retreat back to their base camp after a fierce storm threatens to wash away their newly laid foundation.
Despite the setbacks, each team remains determined to see their projects through to completion. Will they be able to overcome the challenges and finish their cabins before winter sets in? Tune in to "Getting Squirrelly" to find out.
