A former ISIS member who is now in Sweden contacts the journalist, in an attempt to reveal important information about the terrorist organization. In the previous episode, Pervin, another member of the group in Raqqa, Syria, where the majority of the members of ISIS continue to operate, agreed to assist the Swedish secret service. This episode turns its attention to the conversations and transmissions that are taking place between Pervin, the intelligence agency, and the journalist.

The Swedish secret service is listening in on their conversations, and they are attempting to get as much information as possible about the inner workings of ISIS. Pervin is becoming increasingly antagonistic towards the group, which is why she has decided to cooperate with the authorities and any other found individuals, such as the Swedish journalist.

Pervin provides the journalist with revealing information about how ISIS uses social media, creating fake profiles to try to lure young people into joining their ranks. The group also uses encrypted messaging applications to communicate with each other, which makes it more difficult for the police and government officials to track them down and find them.

The episode then shifts its focus back to Iraq, where Hussam, another member of the group, is ordered to carry out a major attack. Hussam has a great deal of experience attacking different targets, but as it turns out, his proficiency and training will not save him from the strain and trauma of having to carry out such a massive and destructive attack.

The ISIS members are divided into separate teams, each responsible for a certain aspect of the operation. The attack plan is quite complex, involving several different elements and requiring the participation of many different people. This episode provides some insight into the inner workings of ISIS, the hierarchy within the group, and how they plan and carry out their attacks.

As Hussam gets involved with the attack, he becomes increasingly aware of the terrible consequences. While his supervisor, the Caliphate, seems to be motivated purely by power, Hussam begins to realize the devastating effects of what they are trying to achieve. As the planning for the attack continues, he finds himself asking if this is really the life he wants to lead.

Meanwhile, back in Sweden, the journalist begins to realize that he has taken on a far more dangerous task than he had initially thought. While he wants to uncover the truth about ISIS, he is now inextricably linked with Pervin, whose life is at stake. His work with the Swedish secret service has drawn him into a web of deceit and danger that he had not anticipated.

As the second episode of Caliphate comes to a close, we see that the journalist's investigation and Pervin's defection have alerted the Swedish intelligence community to a possible terrorist threat. The police are now on high alert, and the investigation is being taken very seriously. At the same time, Hussam has been ordered to carry out the attack, and he is beginning to realize that he may be in too deep. The episode ends with the various characters' fates up in the air, leaving the audience wondering what will happen in the next installment of this gripping series.
