Car Matchmaker is a TV show that aims to help car enthusiasts who are struggling to choose the perfect car for them. Hosted by comedian Spike Feresten, the show features various car experts and dealers who present different car models to the show's guests and help them pick the best car that fits their lifestyle and budget.
In the season 1 episode 9, titled "Momma's Boy," Spike introduces us to his guest, Alex, a 26-year-old from Los Angeles who has just moved to the city to live with his mother. Alex is a huge car enthusiast and admits that he spends most of his time browsing online car forums and dreaming about his next ride. However, since moving in with his mother, he feels a bit constrained in his car choices, as he wants to find a car that is both practical and stylish.
Spike takes Alex to meet his first car expert, Brad, who presents Alex with a 2015 Volvo V60. Brad points out that the Volvo is a great car for someone who is looking for a practical and safe car that is also stylish and fun to drive. Alex is impressed with the car's sleek design and spacious interior, but admits that he is not a big fan of station wagons, which is what the Volvo V60 is.
Next, Spike takes Alex to meet his second expert, Kevin, who presents him with a 2016 BMW 228i Coupe. Kevin describes the BMW as a sports car that is still practical enough for everyday use. He points out that the car has a great responsive engine, a comfortable cabin, and good gas mileage. Alex is impressed with the BMW's performance and sporty look, but worries that it may be too expensive for his budget.
Undeterred, Spike takes Alex to meet his third and final car expert, Mike, who introduces him to a 2015 Lexus CT 200h. Mike describes the Lexus as a hybrid car that is both stylish and fuel-efficient. He points out that the car has a luxurious interior, great handling, and a smooth ride. Alex is impressed with the car's eco-friendly features, but worries that it may not be as exciting to drive as the BMW.
After test driving all three cars, Alex is still torn between them. Spike offers to take him back to his mother's house to think about his decision, but before they leave, Spike surprises him with a visit from Adam Carolla, host of the CarCast podcast and a known car enthusiast. Adam joins in on the car discussion and gives Alex some valuable advice on the pros and cons of each car.
Once they arrive at Alex's mother's house, Spike sets up a surprise test driving opportunity for Alex. He has arranged for Alex to test drive a 2012 BMW M3, a high-performance sports car that is the dream car of many car enthusiasts. Alex is ecstatic to get behind the wheel of such an amazing car, but Spike reminds him that it may not be the best choice for practical everyday use.
The show ends with Alex having to make his final decision: will he choose the practical and fuel-efficient Lexus, the luxurious and spacious Volvo, or the sporty and stylish BMW? Without giving away any spoilers, viewers will have to watch the episode to find out!
