Ep 2. Which Side Are You On

In Damnation season 1 episode 2, titled "Which Side Are You On," tensions continue to rise in the small town of Holden, Iowa as the strike against the local factory intensifies. Seth Davenport (played by Killian Scott), a charismatic preacher who is secretly leading the strike, finds himself in a dangerous position as the factory owner, Connie Nunn (played by Melinda Page Hamilton), and her ruthless enforcer, Creeley Turner (played by Logan Marshall-Green), begin to close in on him.

Meanwhile, Seth's wife, Amelia (played by Sarah Jones), struggles with her role in the strike and her loyalty to her husband. She sees the violence that is beginning to unfold and worries about the safety of not only Seth, but also those involved in the strike. As tensions continue to mount, Amelia must make a difficult decision about where her allegiances lie.

As the strike drags on, other characters in the town begin to take sides. Porter, a black man who works at the factory, must decide whether to join the strike or continue working to support his family. Bessie, a local prostitute, finds herself caught in the middle of the conflict after forming a connection with Seth. And Don Berryman, the town's wealthy banker, finds himself increasingly concerned about the impact the strike will have on his business and tries to negotiate a resolution.

Throughout the episode, viewers are introduced to new characters who will play important roles in the rest of the season. One of these characters is DL Sullivan (played by Joe Adler), a journalist who arrives in Holden to cover the strike and is quickly drawn into the conflict. Another is Bertram "Bud" Wendell (played by David Denman), a veteran who is struggling to find his place in the post-World War I world and is easily swayed by those around him.

"Which Side Are You On" is a tense and dramatic episode that sets the stage for the rest of the season. As characters take sides and the violence begins to escalate, viewers are left wondering who will come out on top in the battle for control of Holden. With excellent performances from the cast and a compelling storyline, Damnation continues to be a must-watch drama for fans of the genre.
