Day Break is a crime drama series that aired on ABC in 2006-2007, and starred Taye Diggs as Brett Hopper, a police detective who finds himself reliving the same day over and over again. The show follows Brett's attempts to solve a complex murder case that he's become entangled in, while trying to figure out what's happening to him and avoid the different dangers that come his way.

The show begins with Hopper waking up on the day he's accused of killing state attorney Alberto Garza (played by Adam Baldwin). However, instead of being arrested and charged, Hopper finds himself in a time loop, repeating the same day over and over again. Despite initially being disoriented and confused about his situation, he soon starts to realize that there's an opportunity in this as well - to prevent Garza's murder, which would not only save his own life but would also help clear his name.

Brett's investigation into Garza's murder leads him down a twisted path of corruption, conspiracy and revenge, making him question who he can trust and who is out to get him. Along the way, he meets Rita Shelten (played by Moon Bloodgood), a federal agent who has been conducting her own investigations into the same case, giving the show a romantic subplot.

Despite the excitement of his new powers, Hopper finds himself facing different challenges every day when he wakes up. This includes threats from people who want him dead, or simply want to stop him from finding out the truth about Garza's murder. As he tries to uncover the conspiracy that's behind his predicament, he soon discovers that the people he thought he knew - his friends, colleagues, and even his lover - may not be who they seem.

One of the most interesting things about Day Break is the way it's structured. Each episode shows Hopper living through the same day, but with different events and outcomes. These changes are often the result of Hopper's own actions, making the show highly unpredictable and intriguing. The show is also well-written, with engaging storylines, strong character development, and effective pacing.

Taye Diggs is superb in his performance as Brett Hopper, bringing a combination of intensity, vulnerability and humor to the character. His chemistry with Moon Bloodgood is also excellent, making their relationship a highlight of the show. The supporting cast is also impressive, with strong performances from Victoria Pratt as Andrea, Hopper's ex-girlfriend, and Meta Golding as Jennifer, a stripper with ties to the Garza family.

Overall, Day Break is an exciting and well-conceived show that delivers a thrilling combination of crime, drama, and science fiction. Although it only lasted one season, it remains a highly regarded cult favorite among fans of the genre.
