Ep 1. Cicero

In the season 2 premiere of Deep State, titled "Cicero," the storyline is set one year after the events of season one. This episode opens in London, England, where former MI6 agent Max Easton (played by Mark Strong) is trying to live a quiet life with his family. Max has been out of the intelligence game for some time, but he's about to be pulled back in.

Meanwhile, we're introduced to a new character, Leyla Toumi (played by Karima McAdams), a French-Algerian agent who is tasked with infiltrating a white supremacist group that is planning a terrorist attack in France. Leyla's storyline will intersect with Max's as the season progresses.

We also catch up with Harry Clarke (played by Joe Dempsie), who was left for dead at the end of season one but has somehow survived. Harry is now a prisoner in a North African jail, and we get a glimpse of the terrible conditions he's living in. It's clear that his time in captivity has taken a toll on him both physically and mentally.

As for the plot of "Cicero," it revolves around a mysterious figure known as Cicero, who has been leaking sensitive information to the press. The government wants to find Cicero and put a stop to these leaks, so they turn to Max for help. Max agrees to work with the authorities again, but he soon realizes that there's more to Cicero than meets the eye.

While Max works on tracing the source of the leaks, Leyla is in France, trying to get close to the white supremacist group. Her mission takes a dangerous turn when she discovers that the group's plans are much bigger than she initially thought.

As for Harry, he's given hope when he's visited by an unexpected ally. This sets him on a path that could lead to his freedom, but it's clear that there are still many obstacles in his way.

Overall, "Cicero" sets up the rest of the season nicely. We get a good sense of where each character is at, and the plot is intriguing enough to make us want to keep watching. The season premiere is full of tense moments and interesting developments, and it bodes well for the rest of the season.
