After a tragic terrorist attack kills the President and most of his cabinet, the only surviving member designated to be in the presidential line of succession is Minister of Environment and the only Independent member of the cabinet, Park Mu-jin. Park Mu-jin is immediately sworn in as the acting President but soon realizes the monumental task that lies ahead of him. He is faced with challenges that not only test his leadership abilities but also his morality and principles.
In the first episode, we see Park Mu-jin grappling with the newfound responsibility that he has been thrust upon. He tries to reach out to the surviving family members of the President and his cabinet to offer his condolences and support but is met with anger and frustration.
