Ep 2. Oui, Oui... Piggie!

Dr. K's Exotic Animal ER is a reality TV show that follows the life of Dr. Susan Kelleher, also known as Dr. K, who is a renowned exotic animal veterinarian. In season 9 episode 2, titled "Oui, Oui... Piggie!", Dr. K and her team of trained professionals at Broward Avian and Exotics Animal Hospital deal with a variety of exotic animal health issues, from the familiar to the bizarre.

The episode starts with Dr. K seeing a pig in a pen that is unable to move his limbs and is in a severe state. She quickly determined that the pig has tetanus, a bacterial infection that affects the nervous system causing muscle stiffness and spasms. Dr. K immediately begins treatment by administering medications to help relax the pig's muscles, antibiotics to fight the bacteria, and IV fluids to help him rehydrated.

Next, a pair of owners brings in a Wallaby who has suffered an injury while being transferred between places. Dr. K examines the Wallaby and finds that he has a pelvic fracture, meaning that the bone in the Wallaby's pelvis has been broken. The vets resolve to stitch up the Wallaby and keep him monitored for 24 hours. Dr.K and her team work hard to keep the Wallaby pain-free and calm throughout the entire process.

In another appointment, a family brings a chicken and a Chihuahua to be examined after their encounter with a raccoon. The raccoon had entered their yard and began attacking their animals. As a result, the chicken suffered injuries in her head and claw while the Chihuahua sustained injuries in his side and paw. Dr. K and her team assess the damage and determine the animals require surgery.

Finally, Dr. K comes across a unique and exciting case where a python has swallowed a dishtowel. The python is unable to expel the towel and hence has a blockage in its digestive system. With a camera and a lot of experience, Dr. K gives the python an endoscopic procedure to remove the dishtowel. Once the linen is removed, the vet team works to prevent the reptile from suffering by treating it with proper nutrition and hydration.

Throughout the episode, Dr. K and her team navigate intense animal health issues with the utmost respect for the animals' health and well-being. They use their expertise to help these exotic animals recover from illnesses and injuries. The viewer is given a close-up view of the challenging, rewarding, and life-changing work of exotic animal veterinarians like Dr. K and the Broward Avian and Exotics Animal Hospital team.
