In the second episode of Drunk History season 2, titled "New York City, NY," viewers are taken on a boozy journey through the history of one of the world's most iconic cities.

As the episode begins, we meet our inebriated narrator Lindsay, who sets the stage for the tales to come with a few slurred words about the founding of New York City. From there, we're taken back to the early 17th century to learn about the Dutch settlement that eventually became known as "New Amsterdam."

The story is told through the eyes of a hilariously blotto Johnathan Fernandez, who plays the role of Dutch governor Peter Stuyvesant. Through Fernandez's slurred delivery, we learn about the tumultuous early years of the colony, including conflicts with the Native Americans who inhabited the area, and the eventual takeover by the British.

Next up, we switch gears to delve into the life of Alexander Hamilton, one of the most influential figures in early American history. Played by comedian JB Smoove, Hamilton's story is recounted by a heavily intoxicated Jenny Slate, who stumbles her way through the highs and lows of the founding father's life.

Through her drunken ramblings, we learn about Hamilton's rise from humble origins to become one of George Washington's closest advisors, as well as his contentious relationship with Aaron Burr, which ultimately led to his untimely death in a notorious duel.

The episode's third segment takes us to the 1930s, as we learn about one of New York City's most notorious gangsters, Dutch Schultz. Played with gleeful drunkenness by Chris Parnell, Schultz's story is recounted by another intoxicated storyteller, who weaves a tale full of corruption, violence, and bootlegging.

Through hilarious reenactments, we see Schultz's rise to power as a mob boss, as well as his eventual downfall at the hands of law enforcement. Along the way, we're treated to plenty of boozy tangents and slurred asides, making for a raucous and entertaining history lesson.

The episode's final segment takes a slightly more serious turn as we hear the story of the Stonewall riots, which sparked the modern LGBTQ rights movement. Told through the eyes of actress Aubrey Plaza, who is delightfully tipsy throughout, the story of Stonewall is one of resistance and defiance against a system that sought to oppress and discriminate against gay Americans.

Through Plaza's drunken delivery, we learn about the events leading up to the riots, as well as the brave individuals who stood up against police brutality and sparked a revolution that would go on to change the course of American history.

Overall, the "New York City, NY" episode of Drunk History is a wild and entertaining ride through the city's storied past, full of drunken tangents, outrageous reenactments, and surprising moments of heartfelt emotion. Whether you're a history buff or just looking for a good laugh, this episode is definitely one to check out.
